Unique ceramic pieces, illustrations, and custom designs tailored to your needs
Commissioned ceramic piece (5 elements) on top of a concrete base. Each piece is a fragment of a building component: Stairs, column, beam, bridge and ramp.
The trophy design project, which we developed to be presented as prizes in the “Architecture and City Competition” organized by CAPECO, was based on the following concepts:
The set of prizes form a city when they are together, but when they are awarded one by one, they become unique pieces that represent the architectural project. This idea starts from the way we see architecture. We think that a building cannot be developed without taking into account that every decision we make as architects affects the city as a whole. In addition to that initial reflection and concept, we continue to develop each particular piece with an idea linked to the typology they represented.
There were 8 typologies:
single family Home
low and medium density housing
high and very high density housing
social housing (Goverment Programs)
mixed-use building
retail
offices
lodging
In some cases we rely on an architect or artist who has developed theory or based a large part of his work studying this typology; and for other cases we define the shape of the trophy based on the archetypal characteristics of the type.
For the single-family home typology, we reinterpreted the gabled roof as a collective symbol.
For low and medium density housing we used Aldo Rossi and his theory on type.
For high and very high density housing we relied on Escher infinity stairs. As a symbol of the vertical tower that is common for this typology.
For social housing, we used the gable roof again as a symbolic representation, but with a different formal result.
For the mixed-use category, we based the idea on Steven Holl's studies on this typology.
Miniature models wer made to study the proportions between the ceramic piece and the concrete base.
Each Trophy was designed like an architectural building. Plans were made so the team at the Ceramic Studio based in Lima could work with them. They were hand carved in clay by 5 different potters.
The base of the trohphies was made in concrete and the plate is stainless steel.
We made a digital card for each trophy.
Acylic paintings 60 x 80 cm.
The drawing is based on the history of this railway and the maps of railroads that crossed through China.

Land art in heritage public spaces of the city of Trujillo, Peru
As part of the Association # Espaciocomún exhibition in Trujillo, we made an intervention proposal within the limits of the Chan Chan Citadel. The proposal not only included aspects of urban design but also the integration of new spaces to involve ephemeral art in public space, land art and spaces where they can have artistic events that can enhance heritage and promote its use.
Here some of the images that were made as an example of how local and world artists could easily intervene our heritage vestiges such as huacas, citadels, streets, historic centers, etc.
In this case we only made land art images in Chan Chan with collages.
Let's imagine that we can do much more than just look at the Huacas. We can interact with them in different ways, taking care of them of course, but at the same time incorporating them in the contemporary discourse of art and architecture.
